It is easy to imagine that helping by giving time to do concrete tasks is more motivating than giving money. It would be great to see this kind of action happening in smaller communities as well and around everyday matters, not just catastrophies. Instead of paying a certain tax people could directly contribute and support things in the community they feel are important.
