The reluctant crowdsourcer: a decade of Wikipedia

If this is in fact the case, it seems to me to be a counter-productive oversimplification. Wouldn’t it be better to actively encourage crowdsourcing crossover? Although distributed work itself is not new, the proliferation of high-speed internet access and the development of new platforms over the last decade have made mass collaboration possible in a way inconceivable even 20 years ago.
