… since our last Microtask news update. Back in the chilly depths of December, we wondered what new crowdsourcing delights (and disasters) 2011 might bring. Now, summer’s here and the whole of Helsinki seems to have abandoned work to sunbathe in the park (you can almost hear the economy grinding to a halt). We thought it was high time for another recap. Along with Christmas, New Year’s Eve parties and the great weather, one of my favourite things about late December is the “best of” lists that the papers put together to reflect on the year that was (and sell extra copies during a traditionally slow news period).

… blogosphere around crowdsourced work. I’m not just mentioning this because Microtask was in the New York Times last week – oh go on then, if you insist, here’s a link.
Along with the praise for innovative companies and non-profit projects, commentators have expressed a fair amount of skepticism. We all know the arguments: distributed work will be unregulated; it will force workers into mundane, repetitive tasks; the rise of distributed work will put decent folks out of a job.
